Different strategies, same result: Peretti and Valero conquer HERO 2026
In the Elite Women's race, contested over the 60 km course with 3,200 metres of elevation gain, Italy's Claudia Peretti claimed victory in 3:53:48. The Italian Marathon Champion took the lead on the very first climb towards Passo Gardena and never relinquished it, defending her advantage all the way to the finish line.
Behind her, Dutch rider Rosa van Doorn finished second (+2:32). We are delighted to see her back competing at the highest level following the injury that sidelined her earlier this season. Third place went to Poland's Paula Gorycka-Kurmann, ending a streak of fourth-place finishes in the UCI World Cup. Swiss rider Anna Weinbeer (KTM Spada powered by Brenta Brakes) narrowly missed the podium by just three seconds.
The men's race on the 86 km course with 4,500 metres of elevation gain delivered a true clash of titans. Victory went to Spain's David Valero Serrano (Klimatiza Orbea Team) in 4:30:11. After a patient and tactical first half of the race, Valero unleashed a powerful finale that left no chance for former road professional Diego Rosa (+41.4 seconds) and Dutch National Champion Tim Smeenge.
In the Master categories, victories went to Uwe Hochwachter and Sophie Johnson.
