One of the most beloved side events is back: the AVIREX HERO CHALLENGE, the timed challenge within the race that will put your determination and willingness to embrace every challenge to the test.

Only a few weeks remain until the 2026 HERO Südtirol Dolomites, and while we wait to welcome you to the Dolomites, we want to share some exciting news that is sure to spark your competitive spirit.
One of the most beloved side events is back: the AVIREX HERO CHALLENGE, the timed challenge within the race that will put your determination and willingness to embrace every challenge to the test.
Here are the sections involved:
86 km and 71 km courses
Zallinger climb (3.5 km – 300 m elevation gain)
60 km course
From Lupo Bianco to Passo Sella (3.6 km – 510 m elevation gain)
There’s nothing extra you need to do: every registered rider of HERO 2026 will automatically take part in the AVIREX HERO CHALLENGE.
Times will be recorded by Datasport and available through the dedicated app.

THE CHALLENGE IS ON: REACH THE FINISH AND WEAR A LEGEND
All riders completing the challenge within the time limit will receive the exclusive AVIREX X HERO jersey polo shirt.
The prizes for the podium finishers of the 86 km, 71 km and 60 km courses are:
- 1st Overall Place (Men/Women – 86/71 km): the iconic G1 leather jacket
- 1st Overall Place (Men/Women – 60 km): the legendary blue nylon CWU jacket
- 2nd Place (all courses): customised Avirex hoodie
- 3rd Place (all courses): customised Avirex T-shirt
